a.k.a. "The Oscar Messenger"

The guild nominations are coming at us fast and furious now. I don’t know whether this clarifies anything or not. But this shot of Casey Affleck and the beautiful town in winter that is Manchester by the Sea really does make it look sumptuous.

So more nominations, more confusion. But again, no “Silence” anywhere. Guess we can scratch that one off our lists.

manchester-art-directionAnd there was a very funny story relayed by my old friend Paula Schwartz, formerly Miss Boldface at the  NYT where she also contributed to the “Carpetbagger” Oscar blog as the Baguette(Late David Kerr’s nickname for her) which I always thought was hysterical. Boy, do we all miss David Kerr…

Well, it seems like at the NY Film Critics Awards Dinner held downtown a night or two ago, Casey Affleck, when Paula asked him if he had shaved his straggly beard, he said “Nope. Nope.” And then when he was given his prestigious award for Best Actor for “Manchester by the Sea”, he began to quote the BAD reviews he was given by the show’s MC, David Edelstein. Hilarious!
