a.k.a. "The Oscar Messenger"

Annnnd, they’re out! The Eight, only eight, film nominated for the Oscar for Best Picture are Out! No “Carol” biggest surprise snub of the morning. But that quirky little indie “Room” made it, which is a HUUUGE deal, for such a challening dark Canadian/Irish co-production. And totally deserved. But “Carol” not being there is the biggest shocker.People will never stop talking about this.

  • That dreadful “Revenant” got a large number of nominations, but more on that later. Charming little Irish/English co-productioiin “Brooklyn” got in though. Much as I liked it when i saw it at TIFF, I NEVER thought this little chick flick would go all the way to the Oscars. But it DID!
  • And the “Room” showed surprising strength getting its’ unknown director Lenny Abrahamson into the crowded Best Director race, but more on that later, too.
