The BAFTA Awards are happening in London as we speak. So far, Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel” now is the leader in total wins with four. Best Original Screenplay, Best Production Design, Best Score and Best Hair and Make-Up.
“The Theory of Everything” won Best British Film. “Birdman” which won the DGA Award last night just won Best Cinematography. And J.K. Simmons for “Whiplash” won Best Supporting Actor as he has won everything else this year. And he is in lock-step with Patricia Arquette who won Best Supporting Actress for “Boyhood” continuing her clean sweep in that category.
“Whiplash” also won two technical awards including Best Editing! The power of Sundance increases each year. This film opened last year’s Sundance Film Festival and now look. THREE BAFTAS! So far. It’s still in progress in blighty.
“Ida” won Best Film Not In the English Language.
The big awards of the evening are yet to come in. Will keep you posted.
