a.k.a. "The Oscar Messenger"

Live-Blogging the TONYS 2014!

Here we go! A very exhausting to watch Hugh Jackman bouncing for ages….introduces. The. Show.
Fantasia looking fantastic singing “The Sunnyside of the Street” from “After Midnight” . She joined by Patti La Belle and Gladys Knight. Now a tap number from “After Midnight”. Now, THAT’S singing and dancing! Like in the musical itself the huge jazz orchestra is onstage.

Dule Hill does a split! Hugh joins them tap-dancing…Number finishes. He’s still out of breath.

“Broadway has so much diversity this season.” Then drag queen jokes.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play. All the Brits are there from “Twelfth Night” Mark Rylance wins! No surprise here. Third Tony for Rylance. He’s actually giving a speech! Not reading a poem! A very moving speech, a tribute to the late Sam Wanamaker! Who re-built the Globe Theater in London. Nice!

Amy Rossum introduces “Les Miz” nominated for Best Revival of Musical. She starred in the movie.

Rousing “One Day More”! My TV show guest 6’5″ Kyle Scatliffe is front and center as Enjolras and just KILLS it! WONDERFUL Moment! Kyle’s voice is so big it booms out over all!
Bravo!
This was a really excellent revival and this number shows why. Kyle’s first note of “One Day More” hit me right in the heart!
Wow!

Not so thrilled when Lena Hall wins Best Featured Actress in a Play. Didn’t see this coming. For “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” I didn’t get this right. She plays a man in “Hedwig” Tom O’Neill at http://www.goldderby.com got this one right.

Neil Patrick Harris is cut to constantly. Showing him smiling widely and smiling, smiling, smiling.
