a.k.a. "The Oscar Messenger"

Richard Griffiths passed about a month ago, but he is still remembered by all who knew him with great warmth, humor and poignancy. He was a Tony Award Winner for “The History Boys” and co-starred with Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway in “Equus.” He also famously played the dastardly Muggles uncle in the first part of “Harry Potter.
This is a particularly charming vignette at the Drama Desk Awards in 2006 the night he won THAT award for “The History Boys.”
I miss him. Everyone does.
And the doodles he’s referring to are an old Drama Desk tradition, where they ask the nominees at the Drama Desk Nominee Cocktail Party to draw a doodle of their character that they were nominated for.
They’ve dropped this since.
